Market Season Again!

I'm excited to dive back into market season after enduring another chilly Melbourne winter. This year, I’ve decided to go all in—one weekend each month, with a market on both days. It’s going to be a challenge. After bouncing back from a rough back injury last year, but I’m feeling strong and ready to put all those Pilates sessions to good use. Why not challenge myself with 15 markets this season?

I can’t wait to get out of the house and soak up the vibrant energy of the peninsula's amazing locals. I’ve found the most beautiful and authentic craft markets, and believe me, I’ve done my homework!

Emu Plains at Balnarring Race Course has a great reputation for its incredible local crafts and its warm, welcoming vibe. There’s something truly magical about that area—it’s a mix of sea breeze, wildlife, and the friendliest people. The live music and delicious food don’t hurt either. This will be my third season there, and I can’t wait to be part of it again!

I stumbled upon Shoreham Market at the end of last season when one of their team members visited my stall, and I'm so glad I did! I attended one of their markets, and honestly, I don't think I stopped smiling all day. Shoreham is this charming village hidden away on the back of the peninsula that often gets overlooked. It really reminds me of where I grew up on the south coast of Devon in the UK—laid-back, friendly, and a whole lot of fun. Their tagline on the website for the market is “Community Connection Creation" and they’re nailing it.

To give you an idea, the top prize in their door raffle was two healthy chickens and a beautifully hand-built coop! Other prizes included veggies, books, and, of course, the mandatory meat plate. When it was time to draw the winning tickets, a lively band serenaded the crowd, and everyone cheered while sitting on hay bales. There was even someone dancing around in a chicken suit!

Oh, and did I mention it's a dog-friendly market? That just adds an extra layer of entertainment. I met this adorable little sausage dog carrying a small stick. He would drop it, tuck his nose under, flip it into the air, and catch it again all by himself!

A Little Special Extra

McClelland Sculpture Park is one of my all-time favorite spots! It's so inspiring and beautiful, plus it makes for a fantastic walk down memory lane. We used to take the kids there for picnics, and my mum absolutely loved it when she lived here. So, when I heard they’re hosting a couple of markets over the summer, I just had to jump at the chance to go!

Here are the dates: November 23 and March 8.

Hope to see you there!
